Foodie Fridays: DIY 1 ingredient Ice Cream

You will go bananas for this healthier alternative to ice cream!

I crave this ice cream whenever I’ve got a couple of extra frozen bananas in the freezer. It only needs 1 ingredient – frozen bananas. I’ve also added on a couple of “add-ins” to put a spin to it.

This is a gluten-free, vegan recipe, even the add-in alternatives!

Ingredients:

  • 3 -4 large frozen bananas, chopped

Directions:

  1. Chop the frozen bananas into 2-3cm disks. I find peeling/chopping the bananas before freezing make the whole process easier. I freeze 3-4 frozen bananas in a ziplock, in case I ever want to make this.
  2. Put frozen bananas into a blender or food processor, blend until there are no chunks.
  3. It’s ready to serve!

Add-ins

These need to be added before blending the bananas.

  • Vanilla
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1/2 tbsp honey or agave nectar
  • Chocolate
    • 1 tbsp chocolate sauce
    • handful of semi sweet chocolate chips
  • Cinnamon Sugar
    • 1 tsp cinnamon
    • 1/2 tbsp honey
  • Peanut Butter
    • 2 tbsp unsweetened smooth peanut butter
    • 1/2 tbsp honey
  • Funky Monkey
    • 2 tbsp smooth peanut butter
    • 1 tbsp chocolate sauce
